An official Further Confusion 2008 report :D Public, pictures at end under cut.
Wednesday Drove for 4-5 hours to Charlie's grandmas. She had dumplings for us. Nom. Went to bed. Thursday We got up at about 11 and hung around until 4, then took the 35 minute lightrail down near the hotel, then went inside. PRE-REG LINE WAS HUGE. It went out the door! We didn't really know what to do, we really didn't want to wait in line XD But the longer we stood there waiting for the line to go down, more people were added to it. So eventually we just turned around and went to Genji's for dinner. That place is awesome! They cook the food right there in front of you, with lotsa fire (see images below). It was so fun XD. We then went back to the hotel to (thankfully) find the line shorter and it just took about 10 minutes or less to get our reg badges. We were set! We walked around for a while, wondering if the Dealers Den or anything would open, but it didn't >.> So we eventually went back home. Friday Got to the hotel a bit late, about 3 pm. I finally got to see moltenglowstick and we're all "zomg we actually saw each other this year!" XD. She told me to sign up for the Iron artist, and threatened that she would never let me live it down if I didn't sign up. For fear of my life, I added my name to the list, dreading what would happen (I've never seen an iron artist before). Charlie and I walked around some more, and I got a badge from Orange04 (see it below!). I absolutely love the badge, and it was an amazing price. We then headed over to sfinder's table to find her frantic because her printer wasn't working D: She had no idea what was going on and so we willingly set out on a mission to find a guy who knew apples/macs, but finding one guy in a con of 2000+ people was a no-go. Fortunately, we headed over a few hours later and she had figured out that the problem was just the printer was out of something. Phew! I'm so glad she got it working again, I felt so bad if it was broken ;.; I then realized that I hadn't met neo53 yet, so I ran to the computers and looked on her LJ which had her room number. Huzzah! So we ran to her room and knocked, and amusingly enough they (Neo, Spirit, and someone else? :X) were all getting into fursuit XD But we're still all "HEY!" and I confirmed sushi night the next night, and we left them to finish getting ready. We then headed upstairs to Iron artist and got second-row seats (I was the second in line XD), and the entire time I was praying "omg dont pick my name omg dont pick my name". I seriously did not want to get picked! But once it got started, I realized how fun it would be to get picked. We had a good 30 minutes listening to the bantering, and I kept thinking of what I would've done (the medium this year was painting on vases). I will definately sign up for it next year and do hope that I get chosen :D I think it would be fun. After that I'm pretty sure we just went home after walking around a bit more. Saturday Best day EVAR! I made sure to wake up and get going early, and we got down to the hotel at about 12. We walked around some more, then went to a panel that Charlie wanted to go to (Intro to the gaming industry). I was going to go to the "drawing feathers and fur" panel at the same time, but the sign outside the room it was supposed to be in said something else o_O So I went to the gaming one. I just kinda drew through it, listening slightly. Wasn't much that interested me XD Charlie got a free shirt though, it was cool. After that we headed to the gaming room and they were playing Rock band. You know what that means; Charlie got in on the drums XD Unfortunately he failed the first time because hes never really played the Rock band drums before, and it sure is different than real drums. I left to go walk around and found people lining up along all the walls, and realized the parade was about to start! So I grabbed Charlie and we got to stand right next to the start, and he took tons of photos of it (seen below). It was fun, we laughed at some of the suits and their funny antics. After that we walked around a bit more, and it was time for sushi night! I must say that was one of the funnest times I've had in a long time. I met Talyn, Spirit (aka Steve, he has two names with us XD), and Sennkoh/Kitara. Though I don't eat sushi, I greatly enjoyed the edemame, miso, and conversation. I swear, Neo and Spirit are my idols XD They are so freaking awesome, even moreso for being a couple and both enjoying the fandom. After we sat outside of the Art Show waiting for the results on some pieces Neo and Spirit bid on, we headed up to check out the masquerade. It was pretty good, some parts were really funny, the host was really good at his job :P I commend him. Charlie wanted to go check out a room party, and so we went searching for flyers but unfortuantely didn't find any that we could peek into to see what it's all about XD Maybe next time. finally, after that, it was time to part ways. saturday being our last day, I was sad to see it ending so quickly. But I had such a good time! We took the lightrail home and flopped into bed.
For next year(bwahaha) -Charlie said he wants to be patrons/sponsors (though looking at prices, being a patron is a LOT of money XD) -After getting quite a few people saying "Why don't you have any art in the art show??" and "Why don't you have a table??", I think I'll try a bit harder to get something like a marketplace table or (doubtful) a Dealers table. I don't know about art show, I feel like my art is too inferior to be hung up and bid on e.e -If I DO get a table, we gotta stay in the hotel. 40 minute lightrail bad enough without a tail/bags/artwork. -If I DO get a table, we gotta stay until Monday. -Gotta do trades and get some sketchbook drawings, omg. I got to draw in Sennkoh's sketchbook, but I didn't get one sketch in mine D: -Should spend more time meeting people >.<
All in all this was an amazing con. I cannot express how happy I am that I went. We beat AC by LOADS and it just goes to show that FC has an amazing amount of con pride and we are just awesome ;D Yay! I also wanted to mention how much furries surprise me. I mean, yea there were the 'stereotypical furries' there, but they were few. It amazed me looking at some of the people, if you passed them in the street you would never guess they had an animal fursona. People that you'd expect to come from the streets were actually snow leopards and tigers, and men in business suits in sunglasses were foxes and wolves. I think this con has really made me more comfortable about the fandom; we may get a bad rap and there are some bad apples, but in general everyone is so friendly and... normal. I love it.
